Mr. Rhett M. Jacobs, 82, of Pontiac, died on Monday, May 27, 2013. Born May 8, 1931, in Pontiac, SC, he was a son of the late Ike J. and Eunice Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs attended the University of South Carolina before his service in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He excelled at real estate and business, and was a highly respected and well-known business owner. Active in both church and community, Mr. Jacobs served as Chairman of the Richland County Zoning Board, was a former Mason, was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church, and the Majors, Lewis, and Grooms Sunday School Class. He also served on North Trenholm's Finance and Foundation Committees, as well as the committee that served to develop the land for Spring Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Hall Jacobs; daughter, Karen Sprayberry (Alan); son, Barry Jacobs; grandchildren, Isabelle and Olivia Sprayberry; and numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, Rhett was preceded in death by his sister, Greta Jacobs.

The funeral service for Mr. Jacobs will be held 3:30 PM, Thursday, May 30th, at North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 North Trenholm Rd, Columbia, with The Rev. Dr. Steve Cloud, The Rev. R. Joseph Copeland, and The Rev. Dr. Dan Griffin officiating. Mr. Jacobs will be placed in the church at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Spears Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Wednesday evening, at Northeast Plantation, 812 Bookman Rd, Pontiac.
