Obituary

Rhonda Lathrop Seastrunk, 74, of Columbia, died Friday, July 18, 2014. Born in Whitmire, SC on January 19, 1940, she was a daughter of the late William Colie Lathrop and Annie Belle Childers Lathrop. Mrs. Seastrunk graduated from Chester High School and later from the Baptist Hospital X-ray School. She was an X-ray technologist for more than 30 years, starting with Dr's., Gay, Wright and Gudmundson and finishing her career with Moore Orthopedic Clinic. Rhonda was a social butterfly, known for her love of people.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, George Edwin "Eddie" Seastrunk, Sr.; a son, George Edwin Seastrunk, Jr. (Anne) of Columbia; a daughter, Sonya Jenkinson (Bill) of Spartanburg; sister, Clara Jacobs of Chester; grandchildren, Cole and Cross Jenkinson; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Lathrop.

The service for Mrs. Seastrunk will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday, July 21st at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1715 Bull Street, Columbia, with The Rev. Dr. Tony A. Metze officiating. A private interment will precede. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Sunday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. Memorials may be made to Newberry College, C/O the C.E. and Louise Seastrunk, Sr. Scholarship Fund, 2100 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
