Richard Anthony Berry, 66, of Lexington, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Born on March 22, 1956, in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Charles Henry Berry and Ruby Sims Berry.

Richard was a 1974 graduate of Spring Valley High School. He was a dedicated, hard worker and retired as an outside plant technician for AT&T. He began his career with Southern Bell in May of 1979 and remained with the company until his retirement in March of 2012. Richard enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. He was a phenomenal father and took great pride in his son. He loved making others laugh and bringing light to every situation. Richard was a skilled cook and an avid gamecock fan.

Survivors include his son, Richard "Scott" Berry (Katie); loving former spouse and mother to their son, Norma Frost Berry; siblings, Carolyn Ratcliff (Bill), Beverly Driggers (Mike), Joann Sturkie, and Keith Berry; dear friend, Tim Craig; and beloved grand-dog, Flora. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Carl Berry, Jerry Berry, Mack Berry, and Jimmy Berry; and brother-in-law, David Sturkie.

A celebration of life for Richard will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, October 22nd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. In honor of Richard, the family kindly encourages guests to wear Carolina Gamecock colors.
