Mr. Richard Leroy Hatchell, Sr., 87, of Elgin, SC, died on Friday, January 3, 2025. Born in Richland County, SC, on June 18, 1937, he was a son of the late Olan Herbert Hatchell and Eva Belle Crowder Hatchell. Mr. Hatchell attended Rehoboth Methodist Church and worked in the Wholesale business as well as served in the United States Reserves.

Survivors include his sons, Richard L. Hatchell, Jr. (Ellen), David W. Hatchell and Charles L. Hatchell; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hinnant Hatchell.

The service for Mr. Hatchell will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, January 25th, at Rehoboth Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
