Richard Wayne Mills, 80, of Columbia, died on Monday, October 31, 2022. Born in Orangeburg, SC, on September 24, 1942, he was a son of the late William M "Billy" Mills and Kathleen Craven Mills.

Wayne was married to his beloved wife Cynthia for 51 years. He served in the South Carolina Army National Guard, was an active member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, an avid musician with a special interest in country and bluegrass music, a master woodworker and active member of the Columbia Woodworker's Association. He had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Rae Carter Mills; sons, Tracy Mills (Susan), William Mills (Robin); daughter, Emily Mills; grandchildren, Tracy Mills, Jr. (Ashley), Amanda Mills, Mary Sberna (Carmine), Rebekah Rivera (Antonio), Taylor Boatman (Mack), Sallie Mills, Hayes Umbach, Carter Umbach, Diana Ladouceur and Claire Ladouceur, and five great-grandchildren Elias Mills, Willa Mills, Mariella Sberna, Penelope Rivera, and Roman Rivera. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas Mills.

The funeral service for Mr. Mills will be held at 11 o'clock, Friday, November 4th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with the Rev. Terry Smoak officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 10 o'clock. A graveside service will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, November 5th, in Carter Cemetery, 3295 Daisy Road, Loris, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family in Columbia and Hardwick Funeral Home is assisting the family in Loris, SC.
