Ricky Ray Hewitt, 59, of Columbia, died September 12, 2017. Born in Columbia, SC on September 5, 1958, he was a son of the late Thomas Lester Hewitt, Sr. and Virginia Dare Hewitt Harmon. Ricky was a US Army veteran and member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church who had a love for music and movies. He was a gifted artist who was known to family and friends as a gentle soul.

He is survived by his sisters, Gretna Crisp and Brenda Ayers (Claude); and a brother, Tom Hewitt (Jane). Also surviving are nieces, nephews and cousins.

The service will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, October 20th at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1920 Cedar Creek Road, Blythewood, SC 29016. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
