Rita May Holbein Howard, 79, of Elgin, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Born in Shirley, Massachusetts. Rita retired from Hobart Manufacturing.

Survivors include her sons, Raymond, Robert, and Mark Howard, and their wives; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; as well as many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Ellie; and her daughter, Cynthia Carter.

A graveside service for Mrs. Howard will be held at noon, Saturday, December 21st, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, with The Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Friday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia.
