Robbin Eugene Long, 67, Blythewood, SC, died on October 12, 2025. Born on May 8, 1958, in Florence, Alabama, he was a son of the late Helen L. Long and the late Willie B. Long.
Robbin grew up in Barton, Alabama, and graduated from Cherokee High School. After graduation, he likely joined the U.S. Navy, where he met the love of his life, Etsuko Long, while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. The two were married for 45 wonderful years. After returning from overseas, Robbin began his career as a correctional officer at Limestone Prison in Athens, Alabama, where he served for seven years. He later transitioned into the automotive industry, working as a finance manager for Nissan and Honda dealerships. A devoted sports fan, Robbin loved cheering for his favorite teams – the Atlanta Braves and Alabama Crimson Tide. In his later years, Robbin relocated to Columbia, South Carolina, where he worked at the Finance School at Fort Jackson, continuing to share his knowledge, dedication, and leadership with others. Above all, Robbin cherished spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride.
Survivors include his wife, Etsuko K. Long of Blythewood, SC; son, Koji Long of Blythewood, SC; daughters, Quana King (Dexter) of Blythewood, SC, and Maki Freeman of Elgin, SC; brothers, Rickey Long (Chapronica) of Cherokee, AL, and Mickey Long (Nicole) of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Kenji Freeman (Dominique) of Fort Rucker, AL, Austin Long of Huntsville, AL, Miya Freeman of Elgin, SC, Zoie Long of Blythewood, SC, Cory King of Blythewood, SC, and Jett King of Blythewood, SC; and a great granddaughter, Kimiko Freeman of Fort Rucker, SC.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, his brother, Willie Long (Carla); sisters, Theresa Long, and Angela Long, and a son-in-law, Curtis Freeman of Elgin,SC.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 3 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC 29223. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service for family and friends to gather. Burial will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 12 o'clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.
