Robert E. Barkoot, Jr., 65, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 22, 2023, after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. Born in Columbia, SC, on December 22, 1958, he was the son of the late Robert E. Barkoot, Sr., and Barbara Tidwell Barkoot Condon.

Mr. Barkoot graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in Columbia and was known for his friendly, outgoing personality. He loved to tell jokes to everyone he met. Even as his cancer progressed, he always tried to make other people laugh.

Robert is survived by his 2 sisters, Karen B. Fowler of Columbia and Lisa B. Carino (David) of Dalzell, SC. He is also survived by a niece; 2 nephews; a maternal aunt; and various cousins.

The family wishes to thank everyone at South Carolina Oncology Associates for providing exceptional care, kindness and understanding during Robert's illness.

The family will receive guests on Friday, December, 29th from 11 o'clock until 12:30 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel.
