Robert Paul Benjamin, 85, of Columbia, died Wednesday, March 04, 2015. Born on March 18, 1929 in Youngstown, OH, he was the son of the late Ruben Paul Benjamin and Elizabeth Solomon Benjamin. Following his service in the US Army, Robert began working for the Prismo Traffic Products Company, and he worked in sales throughout his career. Robert was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church for over 22 years, and he enjoyed good friendships and recreation as a member of the Woodlands Golf and Country Club.

Robert is survived by his wife, Christine Marsden Benjamin; daughter, Marybeth Gawrys (Donald); son, Paul Benjamin (Teresa); grandchildren, Robbie Gawrys, Michael Gawrys, and Blake Benjamin; and sisters, Paula Barrett and Judy Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Hendrickson.

A graveside service for Mr. Benjamin will be held at 3 o'clock, Friday, March 6th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Bobby Farmer officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
