Robert Shiverick Bladen, 81, passed away on June 2, 2019. He was born and raised in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, earning a degree in Mathematics.
After college, he enrolled in the US Navy where he served in the Pacific Fleet on an aircraft carrier and then served in the Naval Reserve based in California.
He spent his entire adult career working in manufacturing for Owens-Corning Fiberglas in California, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
He was an expert landscaper and took pride in his well-maintained yard.
He was also an avid golfer who had the enviable privilege of playing Pebble Beach Golf Links dozens of times as well as Augusta National Golf Course.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Teruko Morita Bladen; parents, Eugene and Olive Kelley Bladen, of Chatham, MA; and sister Joan Bladen Smiley of Sterling, MA. He leaves behind daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Russell Vereen of Columbia, grandson Zachary Vereen, son Dennis Bladen of Tampa, FL and brother-in-law, niece and nephews in Massachusetts.
A graveside service will take place on July 3rd at 10 o'clock in the morning at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
