Robert "Bobby" Calvin Dill

Robert “Bobby” Calvin Dill, 74, of Irmo, SC, died on Friday, July 24, 2026. Born on March 6, 1952, in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of Calvin Hoover and Helen Nelson Dill. Bobby honorably served his country in the US Navy from 1971-1973. He was a dedicated employee of Southern Bell Telephone Company for more than 40 years. While employed at the telephone company Bobby played an integral role in implementing the 911 system throughout the southeastern United States. His hobbies included playing and collecting guitars as well as the occasional fishing trip.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Haney Dill; daughter, Sandra Lee Dill of Mannheim, Germany; stepchildren, Krista Lynne Smith (Ana) of Hollywood, MD and Walter Clinton Aaron (Jennifer) of Chapin, SC; grandchildren, Ethan, Parker, Lyla, and Forrest; siblings, Philip Dill (Glenda) of Spartanburg, SC, Belinda Jolley (Steve) of Chester, SC, and Nelson Dill (Sonya) of Winder, GA.

A memorial service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, August 12th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:30 AM.
