Robert Walter Etter was born in Everette, Massachusetts on July 15, 1938, and he died on January 16, 2025, in Columbia, SC. He was the son of the late Walter Benjamin Etter and Hazel Snow Etter.

Mr. Etter is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sara Pitts Etter; his sons, Rob Etter (Rachele) and Fred Etter; as well as his granddaughters, Donna Etter and Alyce Etter. He also leaves behind his sisters, Jean Etter of New Hampshire and Carole Cocozza of Massachusetts; his brother, Richard Etter of Colorado and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Etter and Kenneth Etter, and his sister, Mildred Walker.

Bob graduated from Lowell Technological Institute, and he received his master's degree from the University of Massachusetts. He was employed as an engineer for several chemical companies, primarily with General Electric in technical sales in Indiana.

After he retired, he and Sara moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida, where they resided for 20 years. They relocated to Columbia in 2018.

The memorial service for Mr. Etter will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, January 25th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, SC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1 o'clock.
