Robert "Bob" Gerard Kroening, Sr., 60, of Blythewood, died Friday, May 15, 2020. Born August 9, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was a son of the late Gerald and Joan Blazek Kroening. Mr. Kroening enjoyed being outdoors, especially when he had the opportunity to go fishing. He was blessed with a very artistic mind and was an accomplished woodworker. Mr. Kroening was an avid sports fan who enjoyed NASCAR and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and South Carolina Gamecocks. He loved to play board games with family and would often become very spirited and competitive. Mr. Kroening was quick witted, honest, and had a very loving disposition. He was currently attending Jackson Creek Baptist Church where he considered everyone family.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Mera Koon Kroening; children, Stephen Kendall Kroening (Rebecca) and Robert Gerard Kroening, Jr. (Jennifer); step-children, Raymond Edward McDaniel (Ellen), James Heyward McDaniel (Melanie), and Inga Desiree Newton (Steve); 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his six siblings, Barbara Kemp (Steve), Mike Kroening, Tom Kroening (Mary), Jim Kroening, Mary Wells (Farrell), and Mark Kroening (Laura); as well as countless nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The memorial service for Mr. Kroening will be held 11 o'clock, Thursday, May 21st, at Jackson Creek Baptist Church, 7778 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC with Reverend Spencer Brown officiating.
