Robert Joseph Gohr, 83, of Ridgeway, died Sunday, February 10, 2013. Born March 19, 1929 in Spokane, Washington, he was a US Army veteran of the Korean conflict, and because of his natural gift for speaking and understanding foreign speech, he was trained and fluent in four languages. Mr. Gohr will be remembered not only as a dedicated soldier, but as a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his sons, Robert (Mercedes) Gohr, Eric Gohr; daughter, Lisa Gohr; step-daughters, Tena (Alan) Becknell, and Kathy (Charlie) Sanders; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Norma Clark.
A graveside service for Mr. Gohr will be held 10 o'clock, Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, with the Rev. Charles L. Miller officiating. Memories and condolences may be added to the on-line guestbook at ShivesFuneralHome.com.
