Robert "Buddy" Guy Langley, Jr., passed away at home, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, knowing he was loved by his family and many friends. Born in Lake City, SC, on July 31, 1935, he was a son of the late Robert Guy Langley and Pearl Beatrice Hoover Langley. Robert was a US Air Force veteran, having served in Germany. Following his military service, he owned and operated Langley Plumbing for 17 years, and later, retired as the Director of Maintenance and Construction for Richland County, following 27 years of dedicated service.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Joan B. Langley; son, Michael D. Wines (Adriene); daughters, Debra M. Trotman (Michael), Jeannie Dailey (Colin), and Anne Langley; brothers, Milton Langley (Rita), and Sidney Langley (Jennifer); grandchildren, Jamie, Walt, and Christen; and great-grandchild, Amberley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Knox Langley; sister, Frances "Betty" Farrow (Jim); and his beloved pet of 23 years, Trouble.
The funeral for Mr. Langley will be held 12 o'clock, Saturday, August 13th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with Pastor Richard Lang and Chaplain Rick Boland officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Dailey, Wal t Dailey, Colin Dailey, Rodney Miles, Jay McAlister, Keith McAlister, and Luther Langley. The family will receive friends at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Friday evening, from 5 until 7 o'clock.
