Robert Johnson, 87, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Born in Loris, South Carolina, on December 13, 1936, he was a son of the late Kelly Thurman Johnson and Eva May Sawyer Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Sherleen Gibbs Johnson; children, Lynnett J. DePasquale (Larry) and Kenneth R. Johnson (Renee); grandchildren, Laura D. Barton (James), Julie D. White (Brandon), Dominique T. Long (Jimmy), and Brandon T. Johnson; great-grandchildren, Marlee Long, Leah Barton, Logan Barton, Evie White, Michael White, and Lydia White; and brother, Douglas L. Johnson (Gail). In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Lucille J. Flowers, John H. Johnson, Lloyd C. Johnson, Eugene Johnson, and Kelly T. Johnson, Jr.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 9 o'clock on Wednesday, July 17th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
