Robert "Bob" Link passed away from a brief battle with leukemia on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Bob was born in Johnstown, PA, on October 18, 1950, to the late Herbert W. and Anna Marie Burkardt Link. He graduated from Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a Major in Business Management and Accounting.
Professionally, Bob was a Certified Public Accountant, a partner with Arthur Andersen, serving in the Pittsburgh, New Orleans, and Columbia offices for over 18 years. He then served as Senior Vice President – Finance of Colliers International in Columbia, SC, for over 23 years, retiring in 2016. He viewed his tenure with Colliers as an honor and a privilege, given the valued association and friendships with the management team and partners.
He had been involved with the United Way over the years and served as the Finance Chair and Vice Chair on the Board of The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his stepfather, Robert Schropp; infant brother, Herbert; and sister, Diana Wherry.
Survivors include his best friend and loving wife of 52 years, Deborah Babik Link; daughter, Amy Holroyd (Ryan); sons, Robert Link, Jr. (Casey) and Brett Link (Jenny); grandchildren, Carson Holroyd, Christian Holroyd, Tanner Link, Bennett Link, Allison Link, and Thomas Link; sisters, Rose Hubbard (William), Janet Brazier (Robert), Sharon Link, Phyllis Link (Mina); in-laws, Frank and Bonnie Babik, Diane and Jack Jenc, and Bernadette Schiffhauer.
Bob was an avid golfer as a member of Spring Valley Country Club, where he served on the Tournament Committee for many years. He also kept in touch with associates from Pittsburgh through annual "golf conferences" held over 40 years at Seabrook Island, Sea Island, and Reynolds Plantation.
He was an avid sports fan, a long time Steelers fan, and proudly displayed his "Terrible Towel" during the playoffs. He delighted in all the sporting activities (golf, baseball, softball, soccer, basketball) of his grandchildren. But perhaps his highlight of each year was the opportunity to spend time with children and grandchildren during annual beach weeks in Litchfield and Pawleys Island.
