A funeral service for Mr. Robert "Bob" Nelson Martin, 68, will be held 11:00 o'clock, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension with The Rev. Jackie Utley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Mr. Martin was born February 6, 1945 in Columbia, SC and passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was a son of the late Nelson Ernest Martin and Blanche Gunter Martin. A 1963 graduate from Eau Claire High School and 1968 graduate of Midlands Tech, he worked for Allis Chalmers for 14 years and retired from DHEC in 2010. Mr. Martin was a member of the North Columbia Optimist Club, Boyleston Masonic Lodge and The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension

Survivors include his wife, Pat Cannon Martin; sons, Bobby Martin, Scott Martin (Diana), and Ryan Martin (Joanne); grandsons, Brian, Collin, Jacob, and Michael Martin; brothers-in-law, Bob Beard and Mike Cannon; sisters-in-law, Donna Clark, Barbara Powell, Missy Cannon, and Meg Ellis; his friend of 65 years, Mike Taylor; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Martin Beard.
