Robert W. (Bobby) Rutland, 95, of Winnsboro, died on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Born in Rion, SC, to John A. and Mary Wood Rutland, he was a lifelong member of Greenbrier United Methodist Church, a 1944 graduate of Greenbrier High School and a 1948 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN. Bobby was Postmaster of the Rion Post Office for 42 years, a licensed embalmer for 65 years, and a funeral director for 35 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances S. Rutland; brother, Clyde W. Rutland; and sisters, Vivian R. Lewis and Patricia R. Cathcart.

Survivors include his son, Warren Rutland (Tracy); granddaughter, Frances Craig (Kyle); step-grandson, Noah Ward; great-grandson, Fischer Smith; and sister, Lois Sandifer.

The family would like to thank his Hospice team for the loving care they gave Bobby for the past 6 months.

A private service will be held at a later date. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is assisting the family.
