Robert Anthony Salley, 70, of Irmo, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born in Augusta, Georgia, on May 15, 1953, he was a son of the late John Anthony Salley and Anna Skinner Salley.
Robert was the loving husband of 45 years to Brenda Reed Salley; Robert was a licensed pilot and stole Brenda's heart after taking her out flying on the first date. He graduated from Westside High School and earned his degree in computer science from Augusta Technical College. Robert retired after 38 years as Computer Programmer and IT Specialist from Richland Memorial Hospital. He had a love for old westerns, WWII documentaries, and Broadway shows. He especially enjoyed Sci-Fi movies, Star Trek, and Star Wars. Robert is fondly remembered for his sarcastic, witty personality and his undeniable devotion to his family. He took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Melissa Jean Salley (Sam), Robyn Leigh Salley, Laura Elise Salley (Ross McCoon); grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Winn, Franklin Wakefield Winn, and Cheyenne Rachel Winn; siblings, Tommy Salley (Kathy), Clara McAlhany (Dan), and Mary Hensley; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Salley will be held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, February 27th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC.
