Obituary
Robert J. Smith, Jr., 51, of Hopkins, died Saturday, May 9, 2020. Born on December 5, 1968, in Sparta, Illinois, he was a son of Robert J. Smith, Sr. and Ellen Jenice Bowers. Prior to his sickness, Mr. Smith worked as an iron worker on various construction projects throughout the area. He loved being outdoors and his trips to the beach. Mr. Smith was an extraordinary father and grandfather. He was very loved by all his family, as well as his friends, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his sons, Zachary Ryan Smith and Xavery Bryan Smith; grandson, Zacarias Ryan Smith; siblings, Lisa Boswell and Michael Smith; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A private graveside will be held in Cutler, Illinois.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
Survivors include his sons, Zachary Ryan Smith and Xavery Bryan Smith; grandson, Zacarias Ryan Smith; siblings, Lisa Boswell and Michael Smith; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
