Robert Oneal Spratlin, Sr., 89, of Columbia, died Saturday, November 28, 2015. Born August 21, 1926, in Columbia, he was the son of the late Guy Oneal Spratlin and Elizabeth English Spratlin. A US Army veteran of both WWII and Korea, Mr. Spratlin worked as a medical administrator with the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center, and retired after 35 years. He was a member of Chapin Baptist Church, Boylston Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Jamil Shrine Temple.
Mr. Spratlin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gaywinard "Bill" Seymour Spratlin; son, Robert "Bob" Oneal Spratlin, Jr. and wife Debbie; granddaughter, Lisa Spratlin Hoffmann; great-grandchildren, Emily Warren Hoffmann and Walker Oneal Hoffmann; sisters, Gwen Spratlin Fetterly, Barbara Spratlin Lattimore (Jimmy); as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Spratlin Kluth.
A graveside service for Mr. Spratlin will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, December 1st, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Philip Vaughn officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank Blueridge Hospice, Daybreak, and Kim Mobley for their wonderful care during the last several years.
