Mr. Robert Edward VanNess, 86, of Columbia, died on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Born on August 27, 1926 in Sayre, PA, he was a son of the late Richard Edward VanNess and Blanche Abrams VanNess.

Survivors include his daughter, Diana Marie Cain; grandchildren, Tabitha Warren, Timothy Douglas, and Mary Nagle Ussery; great grandchildren, Chance Fox, Gayln Warren, Timothy Douglas, Jr., Savannah and Alison Douglas, Justin and Tyler Nagle, and Gordon Ussery, IV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Louise VanNess.

The funeral service for Mr. VanNess will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, October 10th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel with The Rev. Thomas Rich officiating, with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. VanNess will be held on Thursday, October 11th, from 10 until 11 o'clock, at the Residences at Park Place, 115 Gillespie Road, Seneca, SC 29678.
