Roberta Josephine Kershaw, 84, of Elgin, died Saturday, March 6, 2021. Born November 15, 1936, in Gadsden, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Horace Walker Kershaw and Geneva Moyer Kershaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Harvey Kershaw; and her sister, Kay Lynn Kershaw.

Ms. Kershaw was a devout Christian woman and was a member of Forest Drive Baptist Church, where she was previously involved in various church activities. Ms. Kershaw was currently attending Father's House Ministries International in Elgin. She was a graduate of The University of South Carolina and retired from the Babcock Center following many years of dedicated service. Ms. Kershaw formerly volunteered her time with the Columbia Contact Helpline, a nonprofit organization that offered counseling, advice, and referrals to area citizens. She deeply enjoyed working outside, especially in her flower gardens.

Survivors include her children, Lyle Brite (Patricia) of Hopkins, Diana Chavis (David Rankin) of Elgin, and Tamra Pizarro (Sabino) of Elgin; grandchildren, Shannon "Shay" Chavis, Joshua Veronee, Cory Chavis, Jacob Veronee, Joey Rankin, and Jeremiah Veronee; great grandchildren, Kylie Miranda, Conner Chavis, Dylan Chavis, Oliver Veronee, Arya Chavis, Jack Veronee, and Corbin Chavis; brother, Roy A. Kershaw (De) of FL; as well as her sister, Sandra Nunnally (James "Jim) of CA.

A memorial service will be held at 4 o'clock, Saturday March 13th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia, with Pastor Lorenzo White officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 3 o'clock.
