Julia Robin Hinson Driggers (known throughout her life as Robin) passed away on November 9, 2023. Robin was born in Chester, SC on July 10th, 1954, the third child of Edgar Julian Hinson, Jr. and Nancy Tompkins Hinson.
She graduated from Lancaster Senior High School in 1972 and completed a degree in business at Clemson University in 1976. In 1991, Robin married George Thomas (Dick) Driggers Jr. who survives her.
Robin is also survived by sisters Ann Hinson of Indianapolis, IN and Rebecca Hinson Lever (Tommy) of Greer, SC; nephew Thomas Lever (Lillian) and their children, Charlotte Lever and Landon Lever of Simpsonville, SC; niece Katherine Lever of New York City, NY; sister-in-law Dee Epps of Columbia, SC; brothers-in-law Tim Driggers (Kaye) of Irmo, SC, Dale Audette of Columbia, SC, Tommy Driggers (Debbie) of Buffalo, SC; and many nieces and nephews on the Driggers family side. She is predeceased by her brother, Edgar Julian Hinson III.
Robin's professional life spanned hospital administration, law, and real estate. After some early years in hospital administration, the majority of her career was spent as a paralegal for attorneys who represented doctors and insurance companies in malpractice litigation. She found her true calling in the last 10 years as a realtor. As an award-winning realtor, she excelled at customer service guiding her clients through the process of buying a new home and helping them make good decisions about this significant investment. She went above and beyond in her support of her clients.
At her heart, Robin was a caretaker. She was ready at any moment, night or day, to support her friends and family in whatever way they needed. She was the sparkling personality in the family, always the life of the party, and had a wide network of friends. A woman of strong and sometimes fierce opinions, you were never in doubt about where Robin stood. But her crowning achievement was the care that she and her husband, Dick, provided for her parents the last 10 years of their lives. Her sisters will be forever grateful.
The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at South Carolina Oncology Associates who have cared for Robin for the last two years. Even though we did not have long with them, Prisma Health Hospice and especially nurse Kristen Miro were persistent and ever present in their efforts to help us keep Robin comfortable.
Our greatest thanks go to long time best friend Myra Cash who talked to her multiple times a day, sat with her during treatment, rushed to the hospital at all hours to make sure she was taken care of, stayed with her when we could not, and generally supported all of us for the last two years.
The memorial service for Mrs. Driggers will be held at 2 o'clock on Thursday, November 16th, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends for visitation immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The SCOA Cares Foundation, Attn. Meredith Anderson, 166 Stoneridge Dr., Columbia, SC, 29210.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
