Mr. Ronald Freeman Dorgay, 63, of Elgin, died Thursday, February 18, 2021. Born November 15, 1957 in Wilmington, DE, he was a son of the late Charles and Vivian Elvira Freeman Dorgay.
Mr. Dorgay graduated from Midlands Technical College and attended USC. He developed a love for history, especially for the American Civil War. Ronald enjoyed participating in war re-enactments when time allowed. He was both conservative and traditional, while working with many lobbyist groups in South Carolina. Mr. Dorgay was friendly and outgoing, having never met a stranger. Among his many interests and hobbies, he enjoyed tending to his plants along with making mechanical and plumbing repairs.
Survivors include his brother, Charles Kenneth Dorgay; sister, Susan Dorgay Miller; aunt, Wilma Shaw; along with numerous cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by four aunts, and five uncles.
A memorial service for Ronald will be held 3 o'clock, Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, with The Rev. Bryan Bult officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. All are invited to attend; however, masks are required, and social distancing is enforced to maintain a safe environment for all.
