Ronald "Ronnie" Reid Ballentine, 75, of Blythewood, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Born March 17, 1949, in Augusta, Georgia, he was a son of the late Arthur Eugene and Irma Birch Ballentine. Prior to his retirement, Ronnie was employed for over 31 years with the South Carolina Department of Transportation. He loved to spend his spare time outdoors, working with his hands, and cutting grass. Ronnie was a skilled craftsman at both woodworking and leather smithing. Ronnie will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, as well as his compassion for friends and neighbors. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Northeast.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia F. Ballentine; daughters, Patricia Ann Ballentine Gunther (Jeffrey) of Myrtle Beach and Cynthia Ballentine Hall (Chris) of Ridgeway. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ashley Ballentine, Joshua Spencer (Lillian), Johnathan Spencer, Megan Davis (Chase), Cory Jeffcoat, Nicole Jeffcoat, and Kristine McIntosh, great grandchildren, Oliver Spencer, Milo Spencer, Logan Spencer, Alex Hamilton, Blythe Davis, and Jackson Davis; as well as his brother, Danny Ballentine (Barbara) of Blythewood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irma Jean Watford.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Ballentine will be held at 1 o'clock on Tuesday, May 21st, at Calvary Chapel Northeast, 577 W Killian Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends for fellowship immediately following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
