Rosa Anna Corn, 90, of Swansea, died Thursday, September 24, 2015. Born April 8, 1925, in Greenville County, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Wilburn and Janie M. Emery Gosnell. Mrs. Corn worked in the Charleston Navy Yard during WWII and became known as Rosie the Riveter. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW# 3341 of Grafton, OH.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Glymph (David) of Little River, SC; three beloved daughters-in-law, Tiny Whitten of Swansea, Brenda Corn of Ft. Mill and Barbara Corn of Swansea; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Defoy Corn; three sons, Charles Dennis Corn, Calvin Thomas Corn, Raymond David Corn; her two brothers; and one sister.
The funeral service for Mrs. Corn will be held 4 o'clock, Saturday, September 26th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd Ext, Columbia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service, beginning at 3 o'clock. A private family burial will be held in the Mountain View Memorial Park, Travelers Rest, SC.
