Rose Eubanks Hollister, 82, of Columbia, died on Monday, October 12, 2026. Born in Orangeburg, SC, on December 18, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Luther Melton and Sarah Baxley Eubanks. Mrs. Hollister was raised in Williston, SC, before moving to Columbia and graduating from Eau Clare High School in 1962. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who particularly loved to entertain and supply food for all of her family. A skilled crafter, Mrs. Hollister, alongside her husband, designed and made many things that were later sold at trade shows and around the community. She was an avid Gamecock Football fan and also enjoyed gardening, sewing and tending to her flowers. Above all, Mrs. Hollister loved her Lord and Savior and even in her final days spent her energy inviting hospital nurses and staff to Church. She was very involved at Park Street Baptist Church for many years and following its closing, recently became a member at First Baptist Church of Irmo.
Survivors include her husband, James Leroy Hollister; sons, Jamie Hollister and David Hollister; grandchildren, Jessica Shaw (Austin), Jennings Hollister (Avonlea) and Jade Ryan Rorie (Nathanael); and sister, Sarah Frances Smith (Warren). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Susan Hollister.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hollister will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday, October 17th, at First Baptist Church of Irmo. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the Church beginning at 10 o’clock. A private burial for the family will be held. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Hollister requested that those in attendance of her service wear bright colors in lieu of traditional funeral attire.
