Obituary

Rose Marie Stanton Quinn, a loving and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, October 27, 2018 after her courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family as she was relieved of her illness and embraced by the hands of Our Holy Father.
Rose Marie's yearlong battle with cancer inspired all who knew her and shared in her courage and determination to continue the quality of life she so loved. She was supported by her family throughout her journey, amazing them with her strength. Rose Marie has always been and will always be the guiding light of her husband, children and grandchildren- known to them as "Rosie".

Born to the late Frank L. Stanton, Sr. and Helen Hopper Stanton on May 25, 1941, Rose Marie grew up in Clover, SC. She was raised with strong family values learning the importance of commitment and devotion to family.

Rose Marie was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and spent thirty years in the legal field before retirement. She was a homemaker in her early years raising two children and again showing her faithfulness and steadfast love for her family.

On August 26, 2001, Rose Marie married Timothy G. Quinn, and continued to show her love of family to her new expanded family. Their home became a gathering place for all their children. Holidays, birthdays, graduations and other family events were the joys of Rose Marie's and Tim's lives as their family grew with the blessing of fourteen grandchildren.

Rose Marie is survived by her loving husband, and her devoted children, Scott Harrington of Columbia, SC and Cathy (Philip) Stephenson of Florence, SC; her sister, Suzanne Stanton Grissom; and her brother, Frank L. (Butch) Stanton, both of Clover, SC, and a large extended family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Butler and staff of South Carolina Oncology Associates, especially Ann and Dusty, along with Kelly and Joy of Palmetto Health Hospice. We will forever be grateful for the loving care and support they gave our Rose Marie.

The celebration of her life and praise for the joy she gave us will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, SC on Thursday, November 1st at 3 o'clock. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in Jackson Hall at the church. Burial will be the following day at 12 o'clock, at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
