Mrs. Roselen Morris Rivkin, 90, of Columbia, passed away August 4, 2016. Born in Bucharest, Romania, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mariam Burger Morris. Roselen immigrated to the United States when she was six-years old and grew up in South Bend, Indiana. After marrying Mr. Arnold Rivkin, she moved to Columbia, SC, where they owned and operated Edward's Mens Shop and Mark's Mens Store for many years. A faithful member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, Roselen treasured the friendships she made there, and she deeply enjoyed the mah-jongg group that met weekly in her home for many years.
Roselen is survived by her sons, Allen Rivkin of Columbia, and Mark Rivkin and his wife, Christine, of Decatur, GA.; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Jon Bennett of Alpharetta, GA.; and grandchildren, Sam, Zach and Rachel Bennett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Arnold Rivkin; brother, Leo Morris of Hollandale, FL; and sister, Shirley Lovett of California.
The graveside service for Mrs. Rivkin will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, August 5th, at the Whaley Street Cemetery, 1300 Whaley St., Columbia. Memorials may be made to Beth Shalom Synagogue, or the Columbia Holocaust Education Commission, 5827 North Trenholm Rd., Columbia, SC 29206.
