Lillian Rosetta Hunter, 78, of Columbia, died Friday, June 17, 2016. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Calvin Hutchinson, Jr. and Mary Pauline Etheredge Hutchinson. She graduated from Winthrop University and was a member of College Place United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer for Camp Sertoma and Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Hunter was a member of the Leisure Club and Frances Irby Circle at College Place and a member of the Richland Sertoma Club.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, LTC. Harry Douglas Hunter US Army, (Ret.); and their children, Teresa O'Brien (Glenn) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Harry Douglas Hunter, Jr., of Alexandria, VA; grandson Connor Joseph O'Brien; as well as numerous cousins and nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 22nd at College Place United Methodist Church with The Rev. Mary Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Tuesday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
