Rowe Dean Black, Sr., 78, of Lugoff, died Saturday, September 29, 2012. Born July 11, 1934 in Barnwell, SC, he was a son of the late Ruben C. Black and Martha Redman Black.

Survivors include his daughters, Vikki "P'nut" (Danny Jones) Mureddu of Eastover, Iris Vargas of Lugoff; sons, R.D. Black, Jr. of Gaston, Joel (Dee Cook) Black of Ridgeway; sisters, Belinda (Jim) Hollis of Columbia, Janice Black of Columbia; sister-in-law, Bobbie Black of Lexington; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mr. Black will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Everett Reconnu and The Rev. Amos Hann officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
