Lt. Col. Roy Brooke Jordan, Sr., USMC (RET), died Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Born in Edgefield county, he was the son of the late Barnie Allen Jordan, Sr. and Ida Kreps Jordan, and the husband of the late Mary Lever Jordan.
He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Marine Corps in which he served as a Naval Aviator in WWII as a VMF 224 Corsair Fighter pilot, as a helicopter pilot instructor in the Korean War, and as an instructor in petroleum supply at Quantico, VA, during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Air Medals, 1 Battle Star, and two Presidential Unit Citations.
He attended Clemson University, received the 38 year service award from Exxon Corporation, and was a life member of Masonic Lodge 344. He was a charter member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church and Fair Lawn United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children: Karen (Kaye) Ward, Roy Brooke Jordan, Jr., and Donna Jordan, five grandchildren: William Jordan Ward, Roy Brooke Jordan, III, Alice Jordan Chow, Gene H. (Trey) Kizer, III and Travis Jesse Brooke Kizer, and one great grandchild, Aaron Jordan Chow.

The family will receive condolences at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church on Friday, December 6, at 2 o'clock, followed by the funeral at 3 o'clock. Interment will be in nearby Memorial Gardens of Columbia, 9301 Wilson Blvd., Columbia, SC 29203.
