Ruby May Ravdin Harris, 96, of Charleston, formerly of Columbia, died Thursday, September 29, 2016. Born in Columbia on May 1, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Max and Jennie Baker Ravdin. Mrs. Harris served in the US Navy during WWII, received her Master's in Education from the University of South Carolina and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was a member of the Tree of Life Congregation in Columbia.
Survivors include her son, Burton Harris; daughter, Jennifer Harris; granddaughter, Eliza Harris Juliano; grandson, Charles Lehrman; sister, Helen Gold; brother, Joseph Ravdin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Ravdin; and a sister, Lillian Zeller.
A graveside service will be held 12:15 o'clock, Sunday, October 2nd at Beth Shalom Cemetery, 1300 Whaley Street, Columbia, with Rabbi Eric Mollo officiating.
