Ruby Alewine Hill, 81, of Columbia, died, Sunday, July 26, 2020. Born September 8, 1938, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Mattie Viola Medlin Douglas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Clarence Richard Alewine, her second husband, Gene Hill; siblings, Tommy Douglas, Irvin Douglas, Kathleen Sloan, and Wilton Douglas; son-in-law, Phillip Burgess; as well as a grandchild.
Mrs. Hill was raised in Columbia and was a 1958 graduate of Dentsville High School. She loved to cook and enjoyed talking with her family daily. Mrs. Hill was a former member of Holly Hill Holiness Pentecostal Church in Columbia.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly Alewine (Katlynn), Paula Parks (Hugh), Patricia Burgess (Dale), Jim "Jimmy" Alewine (Ruth), Jo Ann Durst (Carroll), and Diane Burgess. Mrs. Hill is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
A graveside service will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, July 29th at Greenhaven Memorial Park, 11020 Two Notch Rd, Elgin, SC 29045. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank her physicians, nurses, and other staff members who cared for her during her last days at LMC, NHC Lexington, SCOA, and Mid Carolina Internal Medicine.
