Ruby L. Marthers Huggins, 84, of Lexington, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Born in Winnsboro, SC on August 31, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Mary Gulledge Lovell. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Grady H. Marthers; and brothers, Marvin and Clarence Lovell. She served as a caregiver in the health care field. Ruby was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Columbia, their Willie Davis Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart group.

Survivors include daughters, Brenda Marthers, Virginia (Charles) Register, Gracie (Richard) Nettles, Wanda (Robert) Phillips, Sherry (Jeff) Watts; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; brother, Jimmy (Gwen) Lovell; sister, Louise (Henry) Reynolds; and special friend, Carl Birchmore.

The funeral service of Mrs. Huggins will be held 1:30 o'clock, Friday, June 1, 2012, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Dennis Barden and The Rev. Larry Smith officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:30. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff of NHC of Lexington for their compassion and care of Mrs. Ruby in her last years.
