Mrs. Ruby Anne Peaks, 90, of Columbia, died on Friday, February 6, 2026. She was born on July 4, 1935, in Eastover, SC, and was the daughter of the late Arthur Tillman Smith and Mattie Sloan Smith.

Ruby was a proud graduate of Lower Richland High School. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Ruby worked in childcare services providing loving care to many children throughout her life. An enthusiastic sports fan, she especially enjoyed cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks and the Carolina Panthers. Some of her most cherished moments were spent traveling with her family, particularly on trips to Mount Pleasant.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Wiles (Richard) of Elgin, SC; daughter-in-law, Kay Castle of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Wayne Peaks, Kimberly Peaks, Carrie Peaks, Zach Peaks; great-grandchild, Olivia Peaks; and grand-furbaby, Daisy Wiles. She is preceded in death by her parents listed above, husband, William Peaks; sons, David Peaks and Donnie Peaks; and siblings.

The visitation will be held from 4 o'clock until 6 o'clock on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC.
The funeral service will be held at 12 o'clock on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at New Life Baptist Church, 2825 Ashland Road Columbia, SC. Committal will follow the service at Alpine Baptist Church Cemetery, 4930 Alpine Road Columbia, SC 29223.
