Columbia: A funeral service for Ruby Hallman Walker, 89, of Columbia, will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with The Rev. Clyde Aiken and The Rev. John Jordan officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10 until 11 o'clock. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens, 6601 Windwan Dr., Columbia. Memorials may be made to Agape Senior Foundation, 1053 Center Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
Mrs. Walker died on Monday, October 22, 2012, at Agape Hospice House. Born on November 22, 1922, in Lexington, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas Hallman and Janie Agnes Rish Hallman. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbia.
Survivors include, husband, George Preston Walker, Sr.; son, George Preston Walker, Jr. and his wife, Sharon; daughter, Carol Walker Gunter and husband, Nelson; grandson, Brian Nelson Gunter and wife Ronya; granddaughter, Angela Marie Gunter Black; and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Holly Horace Hallman.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the loving and caring staff of Agape Senior Harbison Assisted Living Facility and Agape Senior Hospice for their care of Mrs. Walker.
