Ruby Allison Whittier

Ruby Allison Powers Whittier, 100, entered her rest the morning of September 3, 2026. She was born in Barre, Vermont on January 30th, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Harold Fay Powers and Ruby May Sweetser Powers. She married Rev. Arthur Whittier and spent her life assisting his ministry and caring for their four children.

Allison is predeceased by her parents Harold and Ruby Powers; husband, Rev. Arthur Whittier; son, Forrest Whittier; granddaughter, Sherri Sniegon Riebe; sister, Eleanor Powers; and brothers, Reginald Powers and Floyd Powers

She is survived by her son, Dale P. Whittier of Irmo, SC; daughter, Cheryl Sniegon (Robert) of Gilbert, SC; son, Merritt F. Whittier (Lilly) of Lexington, SC; granddaughters, Allison Hache (Shamil) of Florida, Rebekah Ruiz (Carlos) of Florida, Kerri Wolf (Logan) of Georgia, Ashley Whittier of SC; grandsons, Daniel Whittier (Krissy) of Arizona, Matthew Sniegon (Danielle) of SC; great-grandchildren, David Ruiz, Angel Ruiz, Elias Ruiz, Hannah Whittier, Blake Riebe, Mily Weed, Harmon Sniegon; step-grandchildren, Bobby Mazgaj, Eddie Mazgaj, Aeris Carver, and Rinoa Carver.

The graveside service will be held at 10 o’clock on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Rd. Columbia, SC.

Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
