Ruth Bowers Anderson, 80, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Born November 19, 1941, in Murphy, NC, she was a daughter of the late Person Monroe Bowers and Gazie Elizabeth Dills Bowers.

Ms. Ruth married Jack D. Anderson on December 21, 1975, having celebrated twenty-three years of marriage before his passing in 1998. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who helped shape and create memorable moments with her family.

Ms. Ruth enjoyed painting, baking, sewing, and was a talented quilter, who enjoyed her daily cup of coffee. She was a strong woman who faced many hardships that she endured with grace and love from her family and Jesus.

Survivors include her sister, Maude Parr; children, Tommy White, Bernice Boozer, Jackie White, Eddie White; grandchildren, Ashley, Curtis, Monroe, Catherine, Austin; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Katie, Marita, Betty Carolyn, Marie, Jimmy, Teresa; grandchildren Matthew, William, Jr.; and great grandchild, Curtis, Jr.

A funeral service for Mrs. Anderson will be held 3 o'clock, Saturday, December 4, 2021, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 1700 Houston St., Columbia, with The Rev. Rudy Barnes and The Rev. Ralph Young officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel is assisting the family. All are welcome to attend, however, masks and social distancing practices are strongly encouraged.
