Obituary

Ruth E. Barton, 84, of Blythewood, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 12, 2013. Born in Elloree, SC on February 5, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Samuel F. and Viola Champy Bookhart and was a member of Grace Cathedral Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Thelma A. Beckham of Blythewood, Peggy A. Love of Lutz, FL, Linda Lou Antley of Lexington; brother, Joseph L. Champy of Columbia; sisters, Fannie Mae Nates of Orangeburg, Mildred L. Bookhart of Columbia; grandchildren, Lawrence Beckham, Jr., and Jeffery S. Beckham both of Blythewood, Sean R. Love of Tampa, FL; Angie B. Driggers of Moncks Corner; great-grandchildren, Amanda J. (Jason) Beckham-Smith of Rincun, GA, Ava, Hannah, and Kaylin Driggers all of Moncks Corner; great-great-grandson, Alexander J. Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde L. Antley, and her second husband, Roy E. Barton.

The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to the staff United Hospice of the Piedmont in Chester as well as the staff of Uni-Health Nursing Home at Tanglewood in Ridgeway for their tender loving care during our mother's illness.
A memorial service for Mrs. Barton will be held at 11:30 o'clock, Tuesday, September 17th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Grace Cathedral Church, 8017 Winnsboro Road, Blythewood, SC 29016.
