A memorial service celebrating the life of Sadie Franklin Chappell will be held at 4 o'clock, Tuesday, June 25th at College Place United Methodist Church with and The Rev. Tiffany D. Knowlin and The Rev. Wiley Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel is assisting the family. The family respectfully requests memorials be sent to College Place United Methodist Church, 4801 Colonial Dr., Columbia, SC 29203 or to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 615 Mason Road, Columbia, SC 29203.

Mrs. Chappell, 84, was born June 25, 1928 in Newberry, SC and entered into eternal rest Friday, June 21, 2013. Educated in the Newberry County School System, she was a daughter of the late Zack Edward Franklin and Maggie Lee Lathrop Franklin.
She retired from the SC Department of Health and Human Services and was a dedicated member of College Place United Methodist Church. Sadie was a member of the McCloud Guilds Sunday School Class, the College Place Leisure Club, and the North 21 Terrace Home Owners. She hand her husband, Mac, were also members of the Tanglefoots Square Dance Club.

Surviving is her loving husband of 62 years, John "Mac" Chappell of Columbia; her cousins, Boyd and Margie Franklin of Fort Walton Beach, FL; her brothers-in-law, Chuck (Judy) Chappell, Don (Patsy) Chappell, Joe (Adgie) Chappell, all of Newberry; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Chappell Wilson of College Park, GA; many nieces, and nephews; as well as a host of loving friends; her beautiful and loving pet, "Domino", who all will miss her dearly, and remember her as a loving, and caring person with a big heart.
