Samuel Crawley Agee, Jr. of Columbia, SC passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the age of 76.

Samuel "Sam" placed the utmost importance and priority towards being an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Additionally, he had a true servant's heart- a selfless attitude focused on putting others' needs before his own, serving with humility, love, and a desire to help others. Sam loved his church family at Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder, and he participated in numerous groups and activities to promote the betterment of the church and its surrounding communities. Sam placed importance and focus on local organizations as well - serving on the board of the Gill's Creek Watershed Foundation and as an active member of the Central South Carolina Committee of 100. Professionally, Sam excelled as a hotel owner and operator and held leadership roles within Choice Hotels International and the South Carolina Hotel, Restaurant, and Lodging Association.

Sam had several passions. As an avid runner, Sam completed over 40 Peachtree Road Races, numerous local races, and a New York City marathon. In his later years when running wasn't possible, Sam could still be seen walking neighborhood streets wearing his signature AM/FM headphones. Sam and Liz have been South Carolina Gamecock season ticket holders for over 40 years across many sports and have always enjoyed traveling to cheer on the Gamecocks.

Sam is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 54 years, Lisbeth Agee; elder son Andrew Graham Agee, daughter-in-law Amy Agee, granddaughters Avery and Peyton Agee, grandson Chance Agee; younger son Matthew DeWitt Agee, daughter-in-law Rebecca Williams-Agee, and granddaughters Anna and Jude Agee. Sam is is also survived by two brothers, Tommy Agee of Escondido, CA, and James Agee of Bobtown, PA.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16, at 3:00 PM at Eastminster Presbyterian church in Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers and as a nod to Sam's willingness to aid locally, the family suggests donations in Sam's memory of time and/or money to the local charitable organization of your choice.
