Obituary

Samuel Irvin Crapps, 76, of Columbia died Friday, September 16, 2016. Born in Columbia on July 7, 1940, he was the son of the late Drova G. and Margaret T. Crapps. Mr. Crapps was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where he served on the Vestry and Newcomers Committee, was a member of the Men's Bible Class, and together with his wife, Donna, taught the first grade Sunday School class for 29 years. Mr. Crapps worked as an accountant with Columbia Pipe Company and Richtex Brick and retired as Comptroller with Edens and Avant. He was a member the Kiwanis Club, volunteered at the Washington Street United Methodist Church Soup Cellar Ministry, and served on the board of the Salvation Army and Palmetto Club.

Mr. Crapps is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna D. Crapps; sister, Anita C. Fairey; niece, Lisa F. Leitner, and her husband, Kleck, all of Columbia; and great niece, Kathryn "Kat" Leitner of Charleston.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, September 18th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, September 20th at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral with a reception to follow in Satterlee Hall. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
