The funeral service for Sam McElveen, 69, will be held December 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia, S.C. 29223, followed by a private burial at the Elmwood Cemetery Family Plot. The Rev. Jack Hair will officiate. Mr. McElveen passed away December 26, 2023. Born in Lynchburg, South Carolina, he was the son of Clara McElveen and the late Legrand McElveen. Sam absolutely loved his 38 year career working for his dear friend Mr. Jim Hudson and the entire Jim Hudson Automotive Organization that he considered family.

Sam was married to the love of his life, Donna for almost 35 years and they had three beautiful daughters together. He enjoyed family trips, holding his first grandchild, being outside, fishing, hunting and taking long pontoon boat rides on the lake with his wife. He and his childhood friends have remained close, enjoying visits and long phone conversations.

Surviving are his wife, Donna McElveen; daughters, Rachael McElveen Hackney (Daniel), of Palm Coast, Florida, Isabella Frances McElveen of Columbia, South Carolina; grandson, Daniel "Davis" Hackney, Junior; and mother, Clara Benenhaley McElveen. Sam was predeceased by his daughter, Victoria Leigh McElveen; his father, Robert Legrand McElveen and his brother, Timothy Legrand McElveen.
