Obituary

Samuel Walter Palmer, age 78, left this life for his Heavenly Home on June 3, 2013. He was one of six children of the late Irene Agnes Palmer and Tillman (Doc) Dubose Palmer, Sr.
Mr. Palmer was a bachelor. He graduated from Dentsville High School in 1953 and from the University of South Carolina in 1957. He continued to live with his aging mother after his father passed away so she would not have to live alone. After her death in 1999, Sam continued to reside at the family home place where he had lived his entire life.
Sam served his country as a member of the Army National Guard receiving an honorable discharge in 1959. He attended Rehoboth United Methodist Church, and had been a member there since childhood.

He enjoyed farming on the family land, and participating in livestock sales with his father. His life was surrounded by his family and those he loved. We know he is now with his Heavenly Father because he received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at a Billy Graham Crusade in Columbia, SC.

The funeral service will be held at Rehoboth United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 4:00 PM. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 3:00 P.M. in the church parlor. Pastors presiding over the service will be Rev. Doug Benton, Rev. Paul Monroe, and Rev. Dennis Letts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 6911 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29223 and please designate "For The Billy Crawford Family".

Surviving family members are brother, Hugh Allen Palmer; sisters, Sadie V. Turner, Mary I. Letts, and Jonnie C. Berry; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. He is predeceased by his mother, father and a brother, T. D. Palmer, Jr.

Active pallbearers will be Sam's nephews: Ron Letts, Michael Letts,
Carl Berry II, Byron Berry, Allen Palmer and Patrick Palmer.
