Sandra Riley Kelly, 60, of Blythewood, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Born in Columbia on July 14, 1964, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Riley and Sara Lois Riley.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Gregory Todd Kelly; son, Austin Gregory Kelly; sisters, Sara Riley and Susan Darby; brother, Dean Riley; mother-in-law, Sandra McKinney, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Riley; brother-in-law, Chris Darby, and sister-in-law, Kay Riley.
Sandra enjoyed listening to faith-based podcasts prior to her daily routine of yoga and lifting weights, which began at 4:00 am each morning. She adored children and loved dogs. Sandra enjoyed long walks, fishing from her dock, and hiking trails raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Sandra went back to college while working fulltime and obtained an associate of business degree in accounting, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1997 from Midlands Technical College. Not satisfied, she returned to college and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Western Governors University in 2021. She was employed with South Carolina Revenue and Fiscal Affairs, where she was recently promoted to her "Dream Job" as Division Director of Compliance, Communications, and Technology.
The memorial service for Mrs. Kelly will be held at 2 o'clock, Thursday, October 17th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive guests prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
