Sara Wilkins Carroll, 84, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 4, 2016. Born December 10, 1931, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Thomas G. Wilkins and Irene Allen Wilkins.
Mrs. Carroll was a 1949 graduate of Central High School in Charlotte. She later ranked 5.0 in the State Tennis Championships. A lifelong Presbyterian, she was always family oriented and was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Anne Carroll Reamer (Joseph) and Kimberly Carroll Hoffman (Phillip); granddaughters, Ashley Mills (Tracy), Kelsey Reamer, Salley Reamer, and Sara Reamer; great grandson, Elias Mills. Also surviving is a sister, Betty Wilkins Ward. In addition to her parents and husband of 60 years, William E. Carroll, she was preceded in death by a son William T. "Billy" Carroll.
The service for Mrs. Carroll will be held 3 o'clock, Friday, September 9th, at St. Martin's-In-The-Fields Episcopal Church with Reverend Tim Ervolina officiating. Inurnment will be held at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends immediately following at the Reamer Residence. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
